Career planning

Our staff support a wide range of career planning activities: in-curriculum, co-curricular and extra-curricular. We also provide a comprehensive Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) service.

Each academic department and college has a nominated member of staff from Careers who can work with you to deliver a programme of work, bespoke to the needs of your students.

We also provide a wide range of support for PhD students. Supervisors may be interested in learning more about the careers support available for PhD students

Working with the Alumni Department we also offer unlimited support to our graduates throughout their career.

Careers information

Students and graduates can visit us in ASK and access knowledge and resources about the graduate labour market and other career sectors online.

Many of our resources are available on loan through the Library.

Our digital services are available through the Careers website and Abintegro and ensure that students and graduates can benefit from the support that is available without the constraints of geography or time.

Employer liaison

We have a well-developed network of contacts with some of the top graduate recruiters and other key regional employers.

We encourage employers to contribute to the student experience at Lancaster through participation in the Lancaster Award, our Career Mentoring Scheme, and the various other on-campus events we provide throughout the year.

Students gain much from direct contact with employers and the opportunities which this provides to develop their knowledge of different work sectors and to build their network of contacts.

Graduate destinations

The Graduate Outcomes survey is conducted on behalf of the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).

This rich data source provides an invaluable insight to the progress made by our graduates 15 months after completion of their studies.

Graduate Outcomes has replaced the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey.

Recruitment

The opportunity to work on campus can make a positive contribution to a student's future career.

It may help contextualise their subject knowledge, provide valuable work experience, support their Lancaster Award portfolio, or simply provide much needed cash.

Our on-campus Employment and Recruitment Service is a professional agency that offers a fully managed service to hiring managers seeking to appoint students or graduates.

Careers guidance

In addition to our students and graduates, Lancaster University staff are also able to access our careers services.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of your own career planning, please contact us to arrange an appointment.
