Cyber Essentials for VCSEs
A recent collaboration between Lancaster and BAE via the DiSH consortium enabled a cohort of voluntary, community or social enterprise organisations to become Cyber Essentials certified. The Cyber Essentials program is a government backed scheme that helps enterprises protect their organisations against cyber attack. Additionally, VCSEs that are Cyber Essentials accredited are able to apply for a wider range of funding in the sector.
The cohort, recruited by Barclays Eagle Labs, attended a one day Cyber Fundamentals workshop delivered by Lancaster at DiSH. Following that day session, each VCSE completed a cyber security questionnaire designed to show them where best to focus their effort in securing Cyber Essentials accreditation. Finally, the VCSEs attended a second in person session at DiSH where colleagues from BAE completed the application process with each cohort member, the fee for which was funded by BAE.
