Southeast campus car park disruption due to drilling works – Friday 16 February to early March

The ISS and Infolab buildings on South campus

From Friday 16 February until early March, a drilling team will undertake a series of works to survey land in Car Park E, adjacent to the ISS building, in George Fox car park, and on multiple nearby car parking spaces on the Perimeter Road South Drive. The works will include a team of drilling rigs and diggers creating bore holes and trial pits to enable design engineers to establish the ground makeup in preparation for the future construction of a new ‘Low Carbon Energy Centre’.

The works will cause significant noise disruption in the local area, with large, industrial scale equipment required to dig bore holes and trial pits. Car Park E and approximately 35 nearby parking spaces on the Perimeter Road South Drive and in George Fox car park will be closed for use during this time. The flow of traffic around South Drive will be largely unaffected.

Due to the presence of an unconnected project taking place in the area, the ISS building has been partially vacated, however members of the ISS team still working in the building are likely to be impacted by the noisy drilling works in the area. Information regarding alternative parking facilities can be found on the University’s parking webpages, or by accessing the University’s Parking Zones map. The Infolab, George Fox, Charles Carter and Whewell buildings, and Pendle, Grizedale, Fylde and Furness colleges may be subject to some noise disruption, however this will only take place during the working hours of 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday.

We apologise for any disruption caused while we work to improve campus. For more information regarding this and other current and upcoming works across campus please visit News | Lancaster University or contact the Facilities Helpdesk: 01524 593333, facilities.helpdesk@lancaster.ac.uk.
