International students

International

Graduate College has a large international community with students studying with us from right across the world.

If you are new to the UK, we provide guidance and support to help you settle in. This includes information on health services, climate, currency, and religion. We also offer a range of other services and activities to help you settle in.

The Buddy Programme

Each year we run the “Buddy Programme” for new students, where you can meet fellow international students to ask questions, share in each other’s culture and make new friends. The programme aims to:

  • Promote connections between current students and new students.
  • Build a globally minded community.
  • Offer peer support in finding ways to be actively involved on campus.

For further information, please contact Bethany Dahlstrom at buddyschemegradcol@lancaster.ac.uk.

Trips and activities

Graduate College organises regular coach trips to popular destinations across the north of the UK. Previous destinations include Stratford, Conwy Castle, and Chatsworth House.

A helping hand

We offer friendly support to help you settle into your accommodation, resolve any problems that you may have, provide counselling where necessary, and make sure that your time at Lancaster is as comfortable and happy as possible. You will also be allocated an academic tutor, who can advise you on academic matters and assist you in resolving any academic problems which may arise.

Further support

Lancaster University’s Student & Education Services team coordinates registration and orientation activities, welfare, accommodation, immigration and career advice. They will be happy to talk to you whenever you need advice and guidance about any aspect of student life.

You can also make use of our Learning and Skills Development services available to all Lancaster University students.
