Welfare and Support

We are here to support you throughout your time at Lancaster University. We understand that it may be your first time away from home, perhaps even in a foreign country, and it may be difficult to adjust at first. Please come and talk to someone in the College, who will listen to you and signpost you to areas of support.

College Advisor Team

The Grizedale College Advisor Team (CAT) is the first point of call for any students feeling uncertain or concerned about a variety of welfare issues. They can be contacted by emailing grizedalecat@lancaster.ac.uk. They can meet you both in person and on Microsoft teams depending on your situation and preference.

Wellbeing Officer

Each College has a wellbeing officer who can provide guidance on welfare and psychological issues, enabling you to better concentrate on your studies. They can help you access support if you are experiencing difficulties with your health, housing, flat mates, personal life, finances or studies. They also provide guidance to students who may have specific needs such as students from a care-leaver background, those who have additional caring responsibilities and mature and off-campus students.

The Grizedale College Wellbeing Officer can be contacted by emailing the College Advisor Team or the main counselling inbox.

College staff

If you just want a chat, call in and meet with Will, our College Manager. Will can be found in room A07, off Grizedale College Foyer, close to the Porters’ Lodge. He is always happy to meet people and offer advice and support.

Accommodation

If you would like to discuss anything related to your residence, then Tracy is the person to see, her office is in the main Grizedale admin block (A06).

University counselling

If you would like to speak with someone outside the college system, the University has a Student Mental Health service, where mental health practitioners work collaboratively with you to provide professional support on issues such as personal, family, social or academic matters.

Nightline

Lancaster Nightline is a listening and information service run by students for students at Lancaster University. Nightline aim to provide a night-time contact point offering a wealth of free information or just a non-judgemental listening ear. All calls made to Nightline are confidential and remain completely anonymous. You can contact Nightline by telephone (01524 594444), email, instant messaging or Skype.
