The scholarships are open to both UK and overseas students and will be awarded as a fee discount on the basis of past academic achievements, the research agenda for postgraduate studies, and career aspirations.

In order to be considered for the scholarship, applicants need to have applied for postgraduate studies in History at Lancaster University, and have sent a 500 words motivation letter in which they explain the rationale for studying at postgraduate level and how it would contribute to their research and career development, as well as a 1-page CV to Professor Marco Wyss (m.wyss@lancaster.ac.uk) by 30 April 2024. The Department of History will aim to get back with a decision by the end of May 2024.

We warmly welcome all applicants regardless of their age, religion, gender identity or expression, race, disability or sexual orientation, and are committed to promoting diversity, and equality of opportunity.

Please note

Your eligibility for these scholarships is subject to you meeting any condition(s) of your offer before the programme commences (please refer to your offer letter). The scholarship will be deducted from your tuition fees when you register at the University.

If you will be in receipt of an external scholarship you need to declare this and provide details of the value of the award. If the external award amounts to more than half of the tuition fees payable, you may no longer be eligible for the scholarship award from Lancaster University.

These scholarships can be combined with other Lancaster University scholarships, such as the Alumni Loyalty Scholarship, the Lancaster Master’s Scholarship and the Lancaster Global Scholarship. See the University's scholarships and bursaries pages for details.
