Our research in translation explores linguistic and cultural translation practices across media. We are interested in the nature of translation as a form of creative-critical and cultural engagement with texts, as well as in the historical role of translators as cultural actors in different geopolitical contexts. Our research explores the relationship between translation and creative writing and investigates how translation theory is interconnected with other theories in literature, the visual arts, biological science, philosophy, music and psychoanalysis. Informed by our own expertise as translators, our current research interests span literary translation, translation and psychoanalysis, translation and life-writing, translation as creative-critical practice, eco-translation, cultural translation and the translation of songs.
