About the programme
Software Engineers are programming architects, who apply computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis to the design and development of large, complex, and critical software systems.
Our programme provides you with a comprehensive grounding in computer science, while equipping you with the specialist skills required for a profession in software engineering and design. You will gain the technical knowledge and experience to manage and develop high-quality, well-designed software systems, along with an understanding of business and system requirements.
Key Facts
Application to the 2-year BSc Software Engineering (International) degree programme is for students from institutions with an appropriate partnership agreement. Under these agreements the equivalent to Year 1 will be studied at one of our partner universities. We are not able to consider applications from students outside of these partnership agreements.

In your second year at Lancaster, you will be motivated by topics that become progressively deeper and more specialised as your skills develop. In addition to progressing your foundational understanding, programming, and software design skills, you will explore social, ethical and professional issues related to the discipline and will complete a group project. This will prepare you for and give you experience of computing in the real-world.
You will also undertake a variety of software design-based modules, ensuring you gain a broad and robust level of skills and experience. These projects will develop your data analysis, graphical, report writing and presentation skills. Please note that the optional module offerings may change year on year.

Entry requirements
Students studying at one of our partner institutions
For entry to this programme, you must be studying on an approved curriculum at one of our partner institutions. We will advise you separately of the entry requirements specific to your particular programme. In each case, we have benchmarked these to be the equivalent to 2:1 in Year 1 at Lancaster.

Fees and funding
Our annual tuition fee is set for a 12-month session, starting in the October of your year of study.
