Lancaster through the year in pictures

Hi, I’m Paula and I’m one of Lancaster University’s digital content ambassadors.

I am in my fourth and final year studying Accounting and Finance in Lancaster University Management School (LUMS).

One of my biggest hobbies is photography thus I am happy to document my life at Lancaster through a series of monthly photo galleries.

As a student I spend a lot of time studying, so you will see some of my favourite studying spots. Also, in my free time, I like to attend some cultural events and hang out with my friends both on campus and in the town, which is why you can expect to see a lot of pictures of that as well.

With this project I wanted to show through pictures what it is like to study and live in Lancaster.

We did it! Congrats to the class of 2019!

I hope these galleries were insightful. I would like to thank the DCA team for creating this creative space and welcoming me in the team. This has been a truly wonderful experience!

After exams I revisited my favourite places in town.

  • Williamson park looks great in every season

  • The Ashton Memorial must be the most beautiful landmark in the whole of Lancaster

  • I just love how sometimes you can see the bay and hills across it

  • Lancaster castle with some lavender

  • Lancaster Priory during a sunny evening

  • The River Lune has several interesting bridges in Lancaster

Between exams I enjoy walking around campus. It’s hard to believe that after 4 years here you still manage to discover new places!

  • Alex Square and Bowland tower on a sunny day

  • I love this green bit next to Engineering. I pass this place almost every day and always appreciate the little oasis

  • On rainy days you can find plenty of spaces to relax inside. Barker House Farm is this empty only early in the morning, after breakfast time it gets very lively

  • For me this study space in Barker House Farm was a discovery

April

Easter break in Lancaster was wonderful – ducklings, lots of flowers and unexplored paths around uni.

  • Tulips were a really nice addition to campus

  • The moment everyone has been waiting for – new ducklings!

  • Quite close to the uni is a nice café where you can sit by the canal, enjoy passing boats and have some ice cream

  • This place looks almost magical in real life

  • Possibly the best ice cream in Lancaster, and you can get it on campus

  • And that’s it, break has come to an end and it is time to return to the library

March

The end of Lent term, first signs of spring and a day trip to Chatsworth.

  • The Herbarium has become my favourite café in Lancaster

  • Spring has finally arrived!
