Inclusive Lancaster

Lancaster University has a dedicated Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team. Visit their EDI site to find the University’s EDI Calendar of Events, as well as policies, advice and guidance on a number of topics, aimed at creating a fairer and more inclusive University.

Training for all students

All new students are asked to complete our Lancaster Values and Behaviours online induction course which helps ensure everyone has a shared understanding of their role in creating an inclusive community at Lancaster University. If you have not yet completed the training, you can access it through the Portal or the student induction hub.

Societies, groups and networks

You can join a diverse range of societies supported by the Students’ Union, including groups based on different faiths and nationalities, as well as interests and campaigns. The union also supports six liberation groups that represent disabled, international, LGBTQ+, women, mature and Black students. You will have the opportunity to meet people from different groups during Welcome Week, and find out more about what they offer.

Tailored support

A range of tailored support options are available to you, including support for your transition to university, wellbeing and mental health support, and careers guidance. Student Wellbeing Services is available to offer support through practitioners from a variety of backgrounds and specialisms and in a wide range of languages.

Representation

You choose who you want to represent you in roles that cover important areas such as welfare, equality and education. Students are represented by their Students’ Union officers, as well as by elected representatives in their colleges, and academic reps within their faculties.
