Data Protection
Lancaster University delivers widening participation activities with schools and colleges across the UK, to support widening participation and social mobility.
As part of the work we undertake, collecting data from students is a crucial to the evaluation and monitoring of our activities.
We ask for this data for the following reasons:
- To ensure that we are working with the correct students
- To monitor participation and ensure activities remain fit for purpose
- To evaluate and report on the effectiveness and impact of our widening participation work
Under data protection law we have a legitimate interest to process this data and ensure our work is fit for purpose.
The protection of data and privacy of students is important and as a University we work to make sure this information is stored in the correct manner.
Student data will be stored both University activity databases and may be shared with the Higher Education Access Tracker (HEAT). For research and monitoring purposes only, this data may also be shared back with your school or college, with government and funding bodies and with our collaborative partners to help evaluate the effectiveness of this activity. The project and its partners will not use your record in a way that would affect you individually and we will not release data to anyone who is unauthorised.
