The Pentland Centre welcomes Professional Services staff in Lancaster University as members. This page shows some areas of professional colleagues' activity that links to the Pentland Centre.

• Salma Atcha works in the Lancaster University Management School on the renowned Entrepreneurs and Leaders in Residence programmes. She supports participants with one of the major trends in recent years: Environmental, Social and Governance reporting, which is important as a forward-looking indicator of business performance.
• Natalie Bauer manages the Sustainability Marketing and Communications at Lancaster University. She is interested in sharing stories of positive change from across the university with both internal and external audiences, which includes the research and work the Pentland Centre produces.
• Becky Bawden is Lancaster University Management School's lead on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and a key player in the School's Athena Swan award, supporting and enabling an inclusive and welcoming community in LUMS. From a personal perspective, sustainability and respect for the natural world are important to her.
• As the lead for the professional Finance Team within LUMS, Danny Cairns works in partnership with senior leadership to support the delivery of the School’s financial aims & objectives. His professional interests surround how we can embed sustainability concerns into all levels of financial reporting to better inform business decision-making.
• Stuart Foy is a Chartered Civil Engineer and is responsible for a variety of capital projects across Lancaster University. He leads and co-ordinates the Development Team to ensure the sustainability agenda is at the forefront of every project. Stuart also developed a capital development carbon calculator, which has been used to influence the Lancaster University Estates Strategy.
• Stephen King works to establish mutually beneficial collaborations between industry and academia. In terms of research interests, he focuses on understanding how academia and industry can collaborate most effectively at the micro, rather than macro, level to deliver clean and sustainable growth.
• Desna Mackenzie is the Centre Co-ordinator, managing and supporting events and administration, with a particular interest in communicating about our sustainability work. She brings with her insights from previous work in community-based sustainability and social justice organisations.
• Dr Jan Maskell completed her PhD in Educational Research at Lancaster University and is currently a Senior Teaching Fellow at CETAD, where she supports Master's students with their work-based projects. She is interested in organisations' routes to becoming more environmentally sustainable and specifically in pro-environmental behaviour change. She is a Registered Occupational Psychologist, and outside of her work at Lancaster University, she is a Sustainability Consultant working with organisations to implement their Environmental Management Systems.
• Carys Nelkon supports the teacher-led Morecambe Bay Curriculum, empowering local educators to explore how they weave sustainability and place into everyday teaching. Carys is a trustee of the Energy Saving Trust Foundation which supports young people facing inequality to have access to climate action education.
• Paul Turner works to promote the research and engagement activity that takes place at Lancaster University Management School. This includes promoting the research and wider activities of the Pentland Centre through avenues such as the Transforming Tomorrow podcast, which he co-hosts with Centre Director Professor Jan Bebbington, and magazine; the School’s Fifty-Four Degrees magazine; promotional videos; and other written content.
• Rose White manages the Management School’s portfolio of accreditations and rankings, including our Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) membership, a UN-backed initiative whose mission is to ‘transform management education and develop the responsible decision-makers of tomorrow to advance sustainable development.’ She works closely with many members of the Centre to ensure that we’re capturing and reporting all our activities, as well as identifying areas where we can raise the profile of the School.
